At JDP we have developed a strong H&S culture - we really do put H&S first.  With 26 operational branches across the UK we now need an experienced H&S Adviser to support our development - starting from an excellent foundation.  

Are you somebody who is passionate about H&S and naturally inspires those around you to follow your lead?  Can you lead us in developing our H&S processes and co-ordinate our experienced staff to get to excellent H&S decisions?  

If yes, we would love to speak to you if you have the experience to lead projects such as:

• Behavioral safety
• Yard, branch and transport safety
• Fire safety and compliance
• Accident investigation and prevention
• Risk assessment review
• Process improvement and documentation
• Internal audits and administration
• Determining best practice ways of operating and rolling out across the business
• Compliance training
• Keeping us legal & compliant through your own CPD

Flexibility to turn your hand to whatever needs to be done within the scope of your role is important.  In return this is a really varied and interesting role in which you'll become truly embedded in the company with a lot of influence.

The salary for this role is £35k to £38k per annum.  There is the opportunity for hybrid working, but the role is based out of our Longtown (near Carlisle) office which is currently undergoing a complete refurbishment.  You'll also work in an excellent JDP team environment.  There will be a requirement to visit our sites across the UK - it will be in line with company needs, expect a few days a month on average.  You won't be constantly on the road.

Profile

You must be an experienced H&S Adviser who is comfortable to take the lead and can influence people at all levels of the organisation

NEBOSH certified or equivalent

A background in the civils, construction, manufacturing, or merchant industries would be very advantageous - but other relevant backgrounds will be considered
